The Stellenbosch Institute for Advanced Study (STIAS) and the Stellenbosch University Office of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Research, Innovation, and Postgraduate Studies are delighted to announce the appointment of Nickson Kaputeni as Accountant for both environments.
Nickson was appointed on the 1st of February 2025 to support STIAS and the SU Research, Innovation and Postgraduate Studies division including the Schools for Data Science and Computational Thinking and Climate Studies.
He holds a Bcompt Degree and has served SAICA articles. He joins STIAS and SU from the South African Medical Research Council (SAMRC) where he worked in the Finance Department.
Previously, he worked at the University of Cape Town as a Senior Finance Officer (Research Finance), Finance Manager at UCT Foods Services t/a Food & Connect, and Senior Finance Officer in the Commercial Development Department. Before UCT, he was, amongst others, a Senior Management Accountant at e-Networks, a Datacentrix company, a Finance Manager at Integration Point South Africa (later acquired by Thomson Reuters), and a Manager (Finance) in the Consulting Department at PwC in Johannesburg.
Nickson hails from Osizweni Township in Newcastle, KwaZulu Natal, currently residing in Brooklyn in Cape Town. He says he is excited to join STIAS and the SU Research, Innovation and Postgraduate RC with the support of various environments he will be interacting with at SU and STIAS respectively.
