Symposium

In the frame of his fellowship at STIAS in Stellenbosch Wolfram Weisse is organising a one-day symposium on Monday, 7 th March 2022. The thematic focus is: “Limits of Religious Pluralisation?” The answers to this question could be based on analyses of work investigating the existing or envisaged limits and boundaries in interreligious relations, the reasons for such limits and boundaries, the necessity of respecting or overcoming them. A stimulus for further reflexion could also be the question of “moral limits” with reference to an unfinished project of Peter L. Berger.

In an interdisciplinary approach the symposium will allow to reflect on this theme from various perspectives, notably from theology, religious studies, education and the social sciences, with special attention to Southern African discourses and contexts.
