Prof. Abdallah Daar, Professor of Public Health Sciences and of Surgery at the University of Toronto and STIAS fellow will present a talk with the title: Innovating to Address Grand Challenges in Global Health Abstract We face enormous challenges in global health.

Following a preparatory Workshop on the same theme in November 2013, STIAS will convene a Roundtable on Mental Health challenges in Sub-Saharan Africa to examine ways in which this region’s mental health challenges can be met in the next twenty to thirty years.

Professor Jimmy Volmink, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences at Stellenbosch University will be in conversation with STIAS Fellow Professor Abdallah Daar about his new book, Garment of Destiny.

The objectives of the roundtable are to brainstorm how digital diagnostics tools based on artificial intelligence like ADA health can be used to improve access to care in South Africa and across Africa.

Postponed until further notice Following the successful exploratory consultation on the potential of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Diagnostics to improve health in Africa, held at STIAS 12-14 November, 2019, there was great demand from participants to maintain momentum.
