This workshop will provide impetus for the project Mobility solutions as a South African urban integrator: the Adam Tas Corridor test-bed case to enter the next phase; namely the identification and research of mobility solutions that will ensure the integration of the proposed Adam Tas Corridor with the greater Stellenbosch.
The envisaged outcomes of the workshop will include:
• Project proposals for research projects
• A strategy to associate individual projects to a single goal of improving mobility and integration in Stellenbosch
• A strategy to scale research to make it applicable to other cities in developing countries
• A funding plan and funding application(s) linked to the overall project goal and individual research proposals
The core project team comprises academics from the Department of Civil Engineering at Stellenbosch University, postgraduate students that are currently researching aspects of micro-mobility, paratransit and connectivity, as well as consultants that have been spearheading the Adam Tas Corridor Project to date. The core project team will be responsible for producing the envisaged outcomes of the workshop and taking these initiatives further. The team will be supported by partner stakeholders that have been involved in the Adam Tas Corridor Project, as well as new role players that will be able to assist with achieving the goals of this project.
