Actions to take the mental health agenda in Africa forward will be discussed at a follow-up meeting at STIAS on 17 and 18 November 2014.
Following on a STIAS Roundtable meeting on Mental Health in February this year, several actions were launched to keep mental health on the agenda in policy making and public health in Africa. One tangible example was the publication of the “Declaration on mental health in Africa: moving to implementation” which can be read here.
Progress and prospects on several other initiatives will be discussed at the follow-up meeting on 17 and 18 November, which will include, amongst others, a meeting of the working group on violence against women and children / gender-based violence (VAWC), discussion of a mental health strategy for Africa, operation of an African knowledge and communication hub, etc. (see briefing document here).
