As former President of Stockholm University, stepping down on Jan 31 2025, my first concern will be to write a brief chapter to a new History of the University, to be published for its 150 year anniversary in 2028, where I have been asked to contribute with a brief summary of my experiences from 12 years of presidency.
Secondly, I intend to take up my own research in Cinema and media studies, never completely abandoned since I have published a handful of scientific articles as well as one collection of essays during my rectorate. Here, I would like to start by addressing the fundamental issue of the future for cinema studies in times of media convergence. Based on my participation in a seminar series at Lund University on this topic in Spring 2024, grounded in the intense debates within the discipline, I intend to develop these reflections by writing an article based on the research development during the past decade(s) to try to outline ways forward for the discipline.
