A Model Law on Sustainable Soil Management in Africa

Public Event

Register here before 25 April (in-person only)

Healthy soils are the foundation of a sustainable development in Africa. In 2023, the Pan African Parliament (PAP), the legislative organ of the African Union, has launched a project to develop a “model law for sustainable soil management in Africa”. During this high-level event bringing together inter alia representatives of the PAP, of the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and the African Soil Partnership (ASP) the draft of this model law will be presented and discussed by the expert team in charge in a high-level-dialogue. Furthermore, the recently published book “Legal Pathways to Sustainable Soil Management in Africa” compiling inter alia eleven African country studies on soil legislation, which informed the development of the draft model law will be officially launched.
