After focusing almost exclusively on the instrumental medium for forty years, I will use the forthcoming STIAS artist residency as an opportunity to concentrate on the voice - and the choir in particular. A projected large-scale choral work for double choir, tentatively entitled 'Voices', will draw on a wide range of texts in several languages, to explore and synthesise folk music and New Music performance techniques.
